A BEGA Tradition: Respect for the People Who Build the Port’s Strength

As 2025 drew to a close, Klaipėda Stevedoring Company BEGA continued its long-standing tradition by hosting a festive Christmas evening for its employees and their family members at the Klaipėda Musical Theatre. This tradition has been upheld for several decades and was interrupted only briefly during the pandemic years.

The 2025 celebration stood out not only for its special atmosphere but also for its venue: the event was held in the newly revitalised Marios Hall of the Klaipėda Musical Theatre, where the official part of the evening and the awards ceremony took place. The opening of the evening was marked by a specially created ice sculpture featuring BEGA’s corporate symbolism, presented by ice sculptor and artist Mindaugas Tendziagolskis.

During the festive evening, employees celebrating 10, 20, and 30 years of service with BEGA were traditionally honoured. Awards were presented to long-serving dock worker–mechanics, as well as specialists in finance, commercial operations, accounting, technical services, and railway transport—people whose daily work ensures the company’s stability and reputation in the Port of Klaipėda.

BEGA’s Chief Executive Officer, Laimonas Rimkus, emphasised that the traditional Christmas evening is more than just a celebration.

“This is an evening when we can pause, look back, and express our gratitude to the people whose daily efforts build BEGA’s reliability, reputation, and long-term stability. Our strength lies not only in infrastructure or technology, but above all in our people,” said Mr Rimkus.

According to him, the growing number of employees marking 20 and even 30 years of service demonstrates that BEGA remains a reliable employer, even in a constantly changing port and logistics market.

In 2025, BEGA itself marked 33 years of operations. To commemorate the occasion, a special video film was produced, dedicated to the company’s history and its people—the employees who, over many years, have created and continue to shape the BEGA phenomenon in the Port of Klaipėda.

The evening also featured a video address from the Chairman of the Board, Aloyzas Kuzmarskis.

“Thirty-three years in a company’s history is a symbolic number. Over this period, cargoes, markets, and technologies have changed, but the core value has remained the same—respect for employees and their contribution,” the Chairman noted. In addition to congratulating all attendees, he announced the positive news that from January 2026, BEGA employees’ salaries will be increased by 7–10 per cent.

The festive evening concluded with a cultural programme: guests were invited to the theatre’s Grand Hall Jūra, where they enjoyed the Klaipėda Musical Theatre’s premiere of the season—Johann Strauss II’s operetta A Thousand and One Nights.
