“Bega” Recognized as the Most Responsible Company

The Klaipėda Industrialists’ Association (KPA) continues its long-standing tradition of honoring socially responsible companies during its annual general meeting.

Now in its fifteenth year, the KPA Responsible Business Awards aim to recognize and thank companies that have made the greatest progress over the past year in growing their businesses, caring for employees and the environment, and implementing community-focused initiatives.

The title of KPA’s Most Responsible Company of 2025 was awarded to Bega, the Klaipėda-based stevedoring company. The award was presented to the Chairman of the Board, Aloyzas Kuzmarskis.

The nomination “For Responsible Business”, awarded to the company demonstrating the fastest business growth, was granted to Solorina. The “For the Employee” award, recognizing exceptional commitment to employee well-being, was presented to Klaipėdos Smeltė. The “For Our Klaipėda” nomination, honoring contributions to social and community initiatives, was awarded to KN Energies.

“The association brings together 58 companies from the region. Over many years, we have developed a system that allows us to assess not only financial performance but also so-called ‘soft’ initiatives—social projects aimed at employees and the wider community,” said Leonas Makūnas, Chairman of the Awards Committee and Honorary Member of KPA.

According to him, this year the committee—composed of executives from companies not competing in the awards—highlighted that KPA member companies are increasingly directing their attention and resources toward community engagement. The number of projects focused on Klaipėda and its residents continues to grow.

“A strong and socially responsible business means a strong Klaipėda,” emphasized L. Makūnas, a member of the Klaipėda City Council.

During the meeting, association members also re-elected Rimantas Juška as President of KPA for a second two-year term.
