Bega Contributes to Support Initiatives for Ukraine

On 20 February, the Bucha Forest Classroom—a modern, environmentally sustainable educational space for children—was officially opened in the city of Bucha, Ukraine. The project was developed under the auspices of the European Commission’s “New European Bauhaus” initiative.

The project stands as a distinguished example of effective collaboration between international businesses, local communities, and non-governmental organizations. Its implementation brought together 43 companies, 118 volunteers from Lithuania and Ukraine, and 323 private donors. In total, approximately EUR 200,000 in support was secured in the form of financial contributions, construction materials, and equipment. The majority of the contributing companies are Lithuanian, including Klaipėda Stevedoring Company Bega.

“This project clearly demonstrates that the business community can act swiftly, responsibly, and strategically. Companies from Lithuania and Ukraine, together with private donors and partners, united not for symbolic support but to create tangible, long-term impact for children’s future. Investing in education today means investing in a strong and modern Ukraine tomorrow,”
says Aivaras Karalius, Chair of the Lithuanian–Ukrainian Business Council of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists and Board Member of the charitable organization Support Fund for Bucha School.

In addition, Bega contributed to a joint initiative led by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania and coordinated by its state-controlled energy company KN Energies. This coalition of Lithuanian companies arranged for the transfer of electricity generation equipment to Ukraine, which continues to suffer from large-scale Russian attacks targeting its energy infrastructure.

From its own reserves, Bega allocated and prepared high-voltage power transformers for operational deployment in Ukraine.
